## Summary

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership-Procurement Services, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, has completed the procurement process for a maintenance contract for air conditioning and refrigeration systems across various hospital sites in Wrexham and Flintshire. The contract, valued at £300,000, falls under the services category in the repair and maintenance of building installations. Initially tendered in October 2024, the process utilised an open procedure method with electronic submission methods facilitated by eTenderwales. The tender phase concluded with an award period starting from 1st November 2024, leading to the contract being signed on 10th March 2025.

This contract presents significant business growth opportunities for companies specialising in HVAC services, with a particular focus on maintenance and repair of cooling systems. Effective Air Solutions Limited, an SME located in Chester, has been awarded this contract, setting a precedent for similar small to medium enterprises to engage with such public sector opportunities. Businesses equipped with technical expertise in maintaining air conditioning and refrigeration systems and capable of adhering to strict compliance measures regarding F-gas regulations can thrive through such contracts, especially when offered the chance to extend service agreements by an additional two years. This particular contract required bidders to meet high standards in quality and price competitiveness, with technical quality accounting for 40% and price 60% of the evaluation criteria.
