No other reasonable alternative exists for this procurement and this service is critical to patient care and service delivery. This procurement is both essential and critical in supporting the long-term/optimum graft survival of renal transplant patients. A replacement in the short-term is not a reasonable alternative as it would require extensive and robust validation and verification work in line with laboratory accreditation standards - UKAS ISO15189 that would result in significant disruption and disproportionate technical difficulties that would significantly impact on patient safety and the Trusts ability to deliver services. A new contract 4535237 has been awarded and the equipment is currently undergoing validation, this DAC is required to ensure service continuity until full implementation of the contract.
