## Summary

The Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust is planning the procurement of "Provision of Occupational Health Doctor Services" within the human resources management consultancy services category. This procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with a key date for future notice set for 3 October 2024. The contract aims to support the Occupational Health (OH) needs of the Trust’s workforce, addressing significant recruitment challenges faced by the existing OH team. The estimated contract value is £518,400, and the initial term is expected to be one year with potential extensions of two additional twelve-month periods. Key requirements include the provision of regular on-site clinics and competency in various health surveillance services. The service location is UKK1, specifically at the Royal United Hospitals Bath.

This procurement presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in occupational health services to establish or expand their footprint within the NHS sector. Companies that can ensure continuity and quality of medical personnel, offer emergency contact services, and exhibit flexibility in on-site and off-site consultancy will be highly competitive. The contract’s initial and potential extended terms provide a stable revenue stream, making it a lucrative prospect for businesses with capabilities in health surveillance, occupational hazard assessments, and comprehensive OH service provision. Interested suppliers are encouraged to express their interest by opting in via the provided contact email to be considered for future tender opportunities.

## Notice

Royal United Hospitals Bath (RUH) has an Occupational Health (OH) Team that supports the onboarding process for new staff and also needs to meet the Occupational Health needs of the existing workforce.

The OH team have found it difficult to recruit sufficient qualified staff to meet the demands on them. This is due to a lack of qualified people available in the market and the competitive geographical environment as they are bordered by several large NHS Trusts.

This has had a severe operational impact and consequently the remaining team do not have capacity to maintain the service provision. As a critical service, any risk to this provision would create significant disruption to Trust-wide operational activity and therefore it is imperative that any gap in the service is filled. Internal solutions have been exhausted so the Trust is now looking to an external supplier to bridge the gap in the requirement.
