## Summary

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is conducting a public procurement process titled "DHSC: GPH: Part IX of the NHS Drug Tariff Drug". This tender falls under the services category, specifically for feasibility studies, advisory services, and analysis in the medical devices industry. Taking place in the UK, the procurement is currently in the Tender stage with a submission deadline of 25 October 2024. The process involves categorizing medical devices on Part IX of the NHS Drug Tariff, following public consultation, and gathering patient feedback to inform clinical assessments. The tender will be executed through the Research and Insight Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS), restricted to suppliers already registered on the DPS (RM6126). The contract period is anticipated to last three months, starting in November 2024, with an estimated contract value of £71,000.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses specializing in medical device research, feasibility studies, and advisory services. Firms with expertise in categorising medical products and conducting detailed analysis to aid in regulatory decisions would be well-suited to compete. As the project seeks to include patient feedback in assessments, organisations experienced in patient engagement and survey services would have an advantage. Participation in this tender allows businesses to contribute to the national healthcare framework and gain visibility within the health sector, potentially leading to further collaboration with the DHSC and similar governmental bodies.

## Notice

Part IX of the NHS Drug Tariff Drug Tariff Part IX | NHSBSA lists medical devices (also known as appliances) that are appropriate for prescription outside of a hospital setting - for example, wound care products, stoma bags and catheters.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

As part of the application for Part IX, NHS Prescription Services determines where on the Drug Tariff the appliance is listed. Following a consultation that took place between October 2023 and January 2024, the Department of Health and Social Care are updating the way medical devices listed on Part IX of the Drug Tariff are categorised and assessed. We are currently working at pace to categorise these products into draft clinically comparable groups in advance of seeking patient, clinical and industry feedback.

The aim of this patient engagement is to gather patient input on what features patients value in these products in order to build this feedback into the assessment framework of medical product attributes under Part IX of the Drug Tariff.

The opportunity will be competed on the Research and Insight Dynamic Purchasing System, therefore it will only be open to suppliers currently registered on the Research & Insights DPS (RM6126).

It is anticipated that the competition will be held in November 2024, and the opportunity will be for 3 (three) months.
