## Summary

His Majesty's Coastguard (HMCG) has completed a public procurement process titled "HMCG Driver Development and Assessment," focusing on delivering driving-school services across various regions in the UK. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency, acting as the contracting authority, initiated this procurement under the open procedure method. The key procurement stages included the issuance of an open call for tenders, evaluation of submissions, and subsequent award of contracts. The project aimed at ensuring a national common approach to driver induction and vehicle assessment. Notable dates include the tender period ending on 18th November 2024, and the contracts being signed on 9th December 2024. The services are to be implemented in divisions covering Scotland, East of England & Midlands, South East of England, South West of England, Cymru/Wales, and Northern Ireland & Scotland.

This tender presents significant business growth opportunities, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprises (VCSEs). The focus on local suppliers may benefit regional businesses experienced in driving-school services, driver testing, and driving lessons. Businesses proficient in adhering to national driving standards and assessment protocols will find themselves well-suited to compete in such tenders. Additionally, the possibility of contract extensions enhances the prospects for long-term partnerships. By participating, businesses can expand their service offerings, build their portfolios, and contribute to community safety and regulatory compliance.

## Notice

These partners are familiar with the DVSAs "National Standard for Driving Cars and Light Vans" and that the weighting of any shortcomings is in line with "Carrying out Driving Test - Examiner Guidance".
