## Summary

The Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has awarded a contract for mobile dental provision to secure and forensic services under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. This contract, titled "Mobile Dental Provision to Secure and Forensic Services," falls under the industry category of dental practice and related services (CPV 85130000). The procurement process utilised a direct award method without prior publication of a call for competition due to the specificity of the needs. The service location is primarily based around Foxhall House, Ipswich (formerly St Clements Hospital), with related appointments at the provider's dental facility within reasonable proximity. The contract is set to commence in December 2024, with a focus on delivering general dental services such as assessments, routine care, and referrals where necessary, alongside providing oral health education to both secure service staff and in-patients. Initial needs assessments are to be conducted within 8 weeks of the contract start.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in dental care, particularly those offering mobile and community-based services. The contract's emphasis on delivering comprehensive dental care to a secured population creates a niche market, well-suited to providers capable of managing clinical engagements within secure environments. Organisations equipped with mobile dental units, experienced in addressing specific healthcare requirements, and adept at delivering educational programmes could greatly benefit. The award has been made to Community Dental Service CIC, highlighting the importance of SMEs with tailored solutions in the healthcare sector. Businesses looking to expand within governmental health service contracts will find this a strategic model for future opportunities.
