## Summary

The UK Ministry of Defence, operating from Bristol, has awarded a contract titled "Land Environment Air Picture Provision (LEAPP) In Service Support" to Lockheed Martin UK Ampthill Ltd. This project, classified under the industry category of "Repair and maintenance services of military electronic systems," falls within the services procurement category. It is aimed at providing in-service support and related articles to enhance the LEAPP capability, pivotal for air situational awareness on land-based platforms. The procurement process was negotiated without a public contract notice due to the technical expertise required, resulting in a single-source deal. The contract, signed on 9 June 2025, has a value amounting to £19,284,450 and is currently in the award stage.

This tender is a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in military electronic systems and related services. Companies with expertise in technical merit, particularly those skilled in developing complex software systems integrating commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software and custom military solutions, would find this contract highly advantageous. The lack of competition due to specific technical requirements presents a unique chance for companies like Lockheed Martin to leverage their specialised capabilities and deepen their involvement with national defence projects. Businesses aspiring to capitalise on similar contracts would benefit from emphasising their technical proficiency and unique solutions in future negotiations with the Ministry of Defence.
