## Summary

Oxford Brookes University, located in Oxford, is in the Award stage of a public procurement process for "Limbs and Things equipment and consumables for nurse training," classified under the medical equipment industry (CPV code: 33100000). The contract, awarded on 1st November 2024, is valued at GBP 350,000 and focuses on acquiring clinically accurate medical simulator trainers and consumables to support the training and professional development of student nurses. This limited procurement, conducted without prior competition, is due to the technical requirement for compatibility with the existing equipment already in use at the University.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in medical simulators and consumables, especially those providing technically advanced and compatible products. Large-scale suppliers like Limbs and Things, which offer realistic and clinically precise training equipment, would be particularly well-suited to fulfil the requirements of this contract. By securing such contracts, businesses can enhance their portfolio and contribute to critical healthcare education, thereby solidifying their market position and driving growth in the competitive medical training supplies industry.

## Notice

Clinically accurate Limbs and Things equipment/consumables to facilitate training, mentoring and the continued professional development of student nurses.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

Medical simulator trainers are used across Oxford Brookes School of Nursing and Midwifery courses to facilitate training, mentoring and the continued professional development of student nurses. The contracting authority has identified a need to acquire additional deliveries of equipment from its original supplier in order to ensure its compatibility therewith. A change of supplier would oblige the contracting authority to replace medical simulator trainers with different technical characteristics to existing. This would result in additional significant cost, incompatibility and disproportionate technical difficulties in the continued operation and maintenance. These are the only products and consumables compatible with the existing Limbs and Things medical simulator trainers and therefore there is no competition for this contract until the end of life of the existing kit. Additional information: Limbs and Things is the only supplier that offers realism and clinical accuracy with veins dispensing blood and other authentic procedures for the existing small equipment for medical and nursing use. The consumables, such as the faux blood are specific to Limbs and Things existing equipment therefore there is no competition for this contract.

### Procurement Information

These are the only products and consumables compatible with the existing Limbs and Things medical simulator trainers and therefore there is no competition for this contract until the end of life of the existing kit. PCR2015 32(2)(b)(ii) competition is absent for technical reasons
