## Summary

The NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (BNSSG ICB) has awarded a contract to New Medical Systems Ltd, trading as Newmedica, under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The contract, titled "Newmedica," focuses on ophthalmologist services, including diagnostics, cataract, Yag laser capsulotomy, and oculoplastics, to be provided from 01 April 2024 to 31 March 2026 with no option for extension. This procurement, which falls within the services category and the healthcare industry, follows a direct award process without prior publication of a call for competition and is driven by the Right to Choose requirements.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in ophthalmology and diagnostic procedures. SMEs engaged in healthcare services, especially those offering secondary care, have a chance to expand by partnering with public healthcare authorities. The contract, though activity-based with no guaranteed value, allows for the provisioning of crucial eye care services, thus enabling healthcare providers to leverage their expertise in meeting patient choice and quality care standards. Enterprises focussed on community-based age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma monitoring or offering advanced diagnostic capabilities would find this tender particularly beneficial to their growth strategy.
