## Summary

The Manchester Ship Canal Company Limited is initiating a procurement process titled "QEII Fire Suppression," categorized under fire-prevention installation works. This planned tender involves the complete upgrade of the fire suppression system at the QEII Dock, situated near Eastham Village, Wirral, at the entrance to the Manchester Ship Canal on the River Mersey. The procurement is in the planning stage, and interested parties should submit necessary information to the Peel Ports Sourcing Team by 6 January 2025. This project aims to modernise the fire suppression capabilities of the facility to meet relevant safety standards, including the International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers and Terminals (ISGOTT).

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities, particularly for companies specialising in fire-prevention solutions and equipment installation. Businesses with expertise in designing and installing fire mains, pumps, monitors, and detection systems will find this project particularly relevant. The upgrade project involves both design and installation phases, making it ideal for firms that can provide comprehensive solutions in fire safety technology and infrastructure. This could also be an excellent opportunity for SMEs in the fire protection industry to engage with a prominent entity like Peel Ports, enhancing their portfolio through high-profile work.

## Notice

Peel Ports owns and operates six of the UK's most important ports (Port of Liverpool, Heysham Port, Manchester Ship Canal, Medway (Sheerness / Chatham), Clydeport (Greenock, Hunterston, Ardrossan) and Great Yarmouth). It also operates a container terminal in Dublin. In support of its ongoing operations, the Manchester Ship Canal is engaging in market research with a view to launching a non-regulated procurement for the award of the complete upgrade of the QEII dock fire suppression system. The objective is to ensure all upgrades are compliant with relevant standards.

### Lot Information

Lot 1

The QEII Dock is situated near Eastham Village, Wirral, at the entrance to the Manchester Ship Canal on the River Mersey. Vessels access the QEII Dock through a lock, which helps maintain a constant water level in the dock basin. The dock consists of four berths: Berth 1, Berth 2, Berth 3, and Berth 4. All berths, except for Berth 1, are equipped with pipework connections and are utilized to transport petrochemical products to and from the oil refineries located to the south of the dock. The three berths at the dock can accommodate ships with a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of up to 50,000 and a maximum length of 190 meters. The fire suppression system at the dock is nearing the end of its operational life and requires a complete upgrade to ensure compliance with relevant standards, including the International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers and Terminals (ISGOTT). The scope of the project will include the design and installation of fire suppression equipment (fire main, pumps, monitors) as well as a fire detection system (alarms, call points, detectors, etc.).
