## Summary

The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust has awarded a framework agreement for the provision of mid-tech homecare services, covering the dispensing and home delivery of self-injecting and self-infused products. This contract, primarily aimed at providing healthcare services, encompasses the removal of waste/sharps bins simultaneously with deliveries. It targets the East Midlands Pharmacy Collaborative (EMPC) Member Trusts located in the East Midlands region of the United Kingdom. This procurement, classified under the services category in the health services industry, follows the open procedure method and has a framework agreement component. The contract commenced on 1st July 2025 and is set to run until 30th June 2027, with the possibility of an extension for an additional 24 months at the discretion of the EMPC and its suppliers.

This framework contract offers significant business opportunities, particularly for firms specialising in healthcare logistics, pharmaceutical services, or waste management solutions. Large-scale suppliers such as Polar Speed Distribution Limited, Fresenius Medical Care (UK) Limited, and LloydsPharmacy Clinical Homecare have already been engaged, demonstrating that the contract favours large enterprises capable of handling extensive logistics and support services. Given the focus on delivering quality and innovative solutions while addressing health inequalities and improving patient access, businesses with expertise in integrated and sustainable healthcare service delivery will find this opportunity particularly conducive to growth. Additionally, this framework supports the inclusion of service enhancements such as optional Patient Support Programmes, suggesting that companies with capabilities in telehealth and virtual training services could enhance their competitive advantage in this market.
