## Summary

Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) is the buying organisation seeking a Managed Service solution for Pathology Blood Sciences. Categorised under pathology services in the healthcare sector and located in Romford, UKI, the procurement process is currently at the award stage. The key date of note is the contract signing date on 3rd August 2017, with the recent decision made on 2nd December 2024 to extend the contract. The procurement method used is a limited negotiation without publication of a contract notice, due to the repetition of existing services conforming to Public Contracts Regulations 2015, section 72. (1) (a). The extension is in line with NHS England's plans and the North East London regional vision and involves comprehensive blood sciences services, ensuring diagnostic accuracy and operational efficiency.

This contract extension presents significant business growth opportunities for suppliers specialising in pathology services, especially those experienced in providing integrated solutions involving equipment, maintenance, and just-in-time consumables. Businesses focusing on diagnostics and operational efficiency in healthcare would find this an ideal opportunity, as the partnership involves high-performance indicators and potential further extensions of up to seven years. The involvement of multiple healthcare boards, including Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, indicates room for broader partnerships and collaborative efforts for a networked solution, which can foster innovation and long-term business prospects in the healthcare sector.
