## Summary

Southend City Council recently awarded a contract for servicing, maintenance, and responsive repairs of fire alarms, emergency lighting, and disabled toilet alarms in public buildings within the City of Southend-on-Sea. This contract, under the management of Southend City Council, falls within the repair and maintenance services of building installations industry category and is located in the UKH31 region. The contract activity began as a tender issued on 6th December 2024 and saw the award being made on 23rd May 2025, with Blake Contractors Ltd named as the winning supplier. The procurement process was conducted via an open procedure under the legal framework of Directive 2014/24/EU, with electronic submissions managed through the Pro-Contract e-tender facility.

The tender offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in building maintenance and alarm system services, particularly those that are adept at providing 24-hour responsive services and statutory compliance. Companies that sustain strong technical acumen and pricing competitiveness, in line with the 40% quality and 60% price evaluation criteria, would find excellent potential for growth through involvement in this contract. SMEs, like Blake Contractors Ltd, with proven capabilities in fire detection and emergency lighting systems, will especially benefit from securing contracts of this nature, given the niche expertise and responsiveness required in serving public facilities and schools as outlined in this comprehensive three-year contract with a potential extension to six years.
