## Summary

The University of Edinburgh has completed the procurement process for a Beacon Service Contract, classified under the industry category "Repair and maintenance services of medical and precision equipment." This contract involves a 5-year service plan from Bruker Cellular Analysis for equipment located at the Edinburgh Genome Foundry. The procurement method employed was a limited procedure, citing technical reasons for the absence of competition. The contract was signed on 10th December 2024 and will be effective from March 2025 to March 2030, ensuring comprehensive maintenance, including parts and labour, priority response, and annual system checks and upgrades.

This tender provides significant opportunities for businesses specialising in the maintenance of advanced medical and precision equipment, particularly those with existing relationships with equipment manufacturers. While the awarded contract was a sole-source procurement due to unique technical specifications, similar tenders might offer avenues for businesses capable of meeting stringent technical requirements and delivering high-quality maintenance services. Companies with expertise in providing comprehensive service plans with rapid response times and thorough annual maintenance regimes could find substantial growth opportunities in such niche markets.
