## Summary

The Northern Ireland Prison Service (NIPS) initiated a tender process with the aim of contracting a single provider for Visitor Centre Services at various prison locations including Maghaberry Prison, Magilligan Prison, and Hydebank Wood College, catering to the needs of adult and child visitors. The procurement stage has advanced to contract award as of 15 May 2025. This is an open procedure tender falling under the services category and associated with prison services. The contract's timeframe includes an initial period extending to 31 March 2028, with potential extensions lasting up to 24 months, reinforcing the commitment to future-proofing the service. While the awarded contract's completion has been confirmed, the terms highlight the potential variability in demand and ensure a comprehensive contract performance monitoring strategy, alongside key qualitative and quantitative award criteria. The principal contracting authority is based in Belfast, UK.

This procurement process presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in the provision of social and community-based services, particularly those adept in managing visitor-related services within correctional facilities. Small to medium enterprises experienced in delivering high-quality, cost-effective support services within a regulated environment would find this contract particularly rewarding. The scale of the contract, valued at approximately £3,500,000, provides a substantial platform for growth, allowing a successful bidder to establish or strengthen ties within the public sector in Northern Ireland. Given the open nature of this tender procedure, businesses capable of fulfilling the qualitative and quantitative criteria stand to benefit from long-term collaboration and potential future engagements within the region.
