## Summary

The Department for Education (DfE) has successfully completed the procurement process for the "Further Education Governor Recruitment Service 2025," focusing on recruitment services within the education sector. This initiative aims to support and enhance governance in colleges across England by appointing a diverse range of competent governors. Governors for Schools, an SME based in the UK, has been awarded the contract through an open procurement procedure, with the award valued at £879,000. The contract, signed on 28 April 2025, was part of a planned service to target approximately 140 governors over the contract period, extending to 210 should the optional extension be utilised, addressing colleges in need of governance support. The service is free at the point of use for colleges, accessed through departmental referrals.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses in the recruitment sector, especially those with expertise in governance and education. Organisations like SMEs that specialise in recruitment consulting, diversity initiatives, and the education sector are well-placed to work on similar projects with the DfE. The focus on appointing skilled and diverse governors not only enhances the reputational profile of engaging firms but also allows them to contribute meaningfully to improving educational leadership across the UK. Engaging in such projects aids in expanding networks with educational institutions and can lead to long-term collaborations and potential extensions of service contracts.

The Service is designed to strengthen governance in colleges by supporting the recruitment of a diverse range of appropriately skilled and knowledgeable governors to key roles on governing boards.
