## Summary

North of England Commissioning Support (NECS), representing the NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board, is in the planning stage of procuring a TeleDermatology Skin Cancer Triaging Service. This initiative falls under the medical software package category and is classified as 'goods.' The service aims to facilitate remote clinical assessments of skin lesions, optimizing the triage process for skin cancer. The pilot project is set to commence on 1 April 2025 and run until 30 September 2025, with ongoing reviews throughout this period. Interested vendors are invited to participate in a market engagement event in February, with a deadline for the Request for Information (RFI) responses set for 17:00 on 10 January 2025. The project is located in the North East and North Cumbria region (UKC).

This tender offers a significant growth opportunity for businesses specialising in medical software, IT services, and health-related technology solutions. Companies with expertise in digital image management and remote diagnostics are particularly well-suited to compete. Engaging in this pilot project allows businesses to showcase their innovative solutions and potentially influence the development of a sustainable skin cancer triage and referral model. The procurement process will include market engagement activities to better understand available technologies and solutions, enhancing the prospects for collaboration and future involvement in larger, long-term contracts with the NHS.

## Notice

North of England Commissioning Support (NECS) is a commissioning support service working for and on behalf of NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (NENC ICB, the Relevant Authority), who are looking to pilot a solution that would enable to effectively and efficiently facilitate a TeleDermatology Skin Cancer Triaging Service. TeleDermatology Triaging works by enabling clinical staff to remotely assess images of patients' skin lesions. After digital assessment, patients can be moved to the relevant next step along the pathway or discharged after confirming it is not a cancer. TeleDerm triaging enables a more rapid assessment of patients than possible in face-to-face triage assessment clinics. This process is to support a pilot of TeleDermatology Services, enabling the evaluation of different TeleDermatology models. The outcomes of these pilots will inform the development of recommendations to NENC Integrated Care System and particularly NENC ICB for a sustainable commissioning model for the provision of skin cancer triage and referral pathways across the NENC region. Data and local knowledge will be used from existing services and new pilot studies, to determine barriers to the effective use of TeleDermatology, in primary and secondary care, in particular. This information will be used to inform the project and final commissioning recommendation(s).
