## Summary

The University of Bristol has completed a procurement process for the supply of an upgraded deposition system under the tender title "Supply of upgraded deposition system". The process, classified under the industry category of Miscellaneous general and special-purpose machinery (CPV code: 42900000), aims to enhance the Ultra High Rate Deposition Cell to meet specific application requirements. This advancement will equip the National Composites Centre (NCC) with cutting-edge Roll-up Roll-out head designs for precise, large-format material placement. The equipment will facilitate multi-material processing, including fabrics and non-structural materials. The procurement was executed through a limited method without prior publication of a competition call, justified by the bespoke nature of the existing system, with the upgrade performed by Loop Technology Limited. The contract, valued at £3,100,000 GBP, was signed on 3rd January 2025, with primary delivery to the UKK1 region.

This contract presents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in the manufacturing and supply of high-precision machinery and advanced materials processing equipment. Companies with expertise in bespoke system upgrades and those capable of producing specialised machinery for materials engineering are particularly well-positioned to benefit. The partnership between the University of Bristol and Loop Technology Limited exemplifies the potential for SMEs to engage in high-value contracts by offering unique and specialised solutions. Business growth can be driven by participation in such tailored procurement processes, providing avenues for demonstrating technical capabilities and securing future contracts within specialised industry sectors.

## Notice

Upgrades are required to the existing Ultra High Rate Deposition Cell to achieve the requirements for identified applications. This procurement will provide the NCC with next generation Roll-up Roll-out head designs for accurate +/-1mm, large-format material placement. The installed system will be capable of multi-material processing including fabrics and non-structural materials.

### Procurement Information

Justification for awarding this contract without prior publication of a call for competition in accordance with Article 32 (5) (b) PCR 2015. The current deposition system is bespoke and is made nowhere else, the OEM is the only one who could work on this equipment to upgrade and develop the system for future use.
