## Summary

The recent procurement process by Westmorland and Furness Council involves a tender for the "Commercial Kitchen and Laundry Service Equipment Maintenance and Replacement". This is a service category project focusing on repair and maintenance services under the CPV code 50000000. The procurement method adopted is an open procedure and it covers the region of UKD1, specifically targeting the council's buildings which include 9 Care Homes and 5 Day Centres. The timeline for this contract initiation began with the tender stage active until 5th February 2025, and the subsequent contract award took place on 25th March 2025 with Northernshire T/A Catering Partnership Ltd as the supplier. The contract, valued at £340,000, is in the award phase and spans an initial three-year term, potentially extendable by another year.

This tender creates robust opportunities for businesses specializing in equipment maintenance, especially those familiar with statutory safety and compliance in public sector buildings. Given the rapid response requirement for emergency repairs, companies offering efficient, high-quality service will be well-suited to meet the demands of this contract. SMEs, like the awarded supplier, Northernshire T/A Catering Partnership Ltd, have demonstrated successful engagement, highlighting the potential for similar scale enterprises to compete effectively. The opportunity also allows businesses to engage in the economic and social regeneration of the local area, aligning contract performance with broader community benefits.
