## Summary

Diamond Light Source Limited embarked on a public procurement process regarding the supply of I17 CSXID Beamline M4 and M6 Mirror Systems, situated at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire. This contract was geared towards the design and manufacture of these systems to facilitate Diamond-II, an upgrade for enhancing scientific research capabilities. Encapsulating the CPV classification code 38622000 for mirrors under the goods category, the procurement involved an open method. This process advanced from the tender stage in January 2025 to the award stage by April 2025, with a notable contract agreement valued at £412,000 signed on 24th March 2025. The project location is specified within the UKJ14 region, Didcot, Oxfordshire.

The procurement offers significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in advanced optics and precision engineering. The contract's requirements include manufacturing sophisticated mirror adjustment systems, presenting a lucrative opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with capabilities in the relevant technical and engineering domains. Firms excelling in optical systems design, engineering, and manufacturing, specifically those familiar with integrating optomechanical systems into scientific research infrastructures, would find this contract particularly beneficial for business growth and expansion within the high-energy physics and engineering sectors. XDS Oxford Limited was successfully awarded the contract, demonstrating an esteemed participation in such niche technological advancements.

## Notice

Located on the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, Diamond Light Source (DLS) is a leading-edge facility for science, engineering and innovation. Diamond allows researchers from academia and industry to investigate the structure and behaviour of the world around us at the atomic and molecular level. To continue delivering the world-changing science that Diamond enables, the facility is being upgraded to Diamond-II, a co-ordinated programme of development that combines a major machine upgrade with new instruments and complementary improvements to optics, detectors, sample environment and delivery capabilities, and computing, as well as integrated and correlative methods. This will be transformative in speed and spatial resolution and will offer users streamlined access to enhanced instruments for life and physical sciences. The scope of the contract is for the design, supply of material, manufacture, assembly, test and delivery of two mirror position adjustment systems for the I17 Beamline. The minimum scope of the contract is the design, manufacture, test, and delivery of: * Mirror System M4 tangential ellipse (with bender) focussing mechanics & optic. Page 4 to 7 * Mirror System M6 tangential ellipse (with bender) focussing mechanics & optic. Both Mirror Systems shall include: * Mirror Optics * Mechanical Bender for bending * Cooling arrangements as described in the specification * Vacuum system * Support system * Interface to beamline services
