## Summary

Kent County Council has completed the procurement process for the "SS17036 Carers Assessment and Support - Carers Short Breaks" contract within the community and social services industry category. The contract, valued at £3,087,000, was awarded to Crossroads Care Kent for a term of 12 months from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026. The procurement method was limited, entailing an award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition. This decision aligns with the statutory duty under the Care Act 2014 to ensure social care services are sufficient and suitable for Kent residents, and to maintain a sustainable market amidst re-procurement activities. The location of service delivery is the UKJ4 region.

This tender provides significant opportunities for businesses specializing in community care services, particularly those with capabilities to deliver replacement care for carers and manage crisis support. Businesses with experience in providing tailored social services and quick-scale mobilisation should find this opportunity lucrative. As the procurement method was direct award, businesses eyeing future re-procurement cycles should stay vigilant for upcoming competitive tenders to establish their market presence and grow their service offerings in the Kent region.
