## Summary

The Derry City and Strabane District Council is seeking contractors for the Strabane Public Realm Scheme, a significant civil engineering project aimed at revitalising multiple streets within the Strabane town centre, including Railway Street, Derry Road, and Castle Street among others. This procurement process, conducted under the "restricted procedure" method, involves the provision of high-quality paving, kerbing, earthworks, and more to enhance the area's connectivity and attractiveness. The latest stage of this process, as of 27th February 2026, has resulted in the awarding of a contract valued at approximately £4.54 million to FP McCann. Submissions were processed via eTendersNI with a tender deadline having been on 28th March 2025.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialised in construction and civil engineering, particularly those proficient in managing complex urban projects. Companies that can deliver high-quality interventions while ensuring minimal disruption to the town's commercial and pedestrian activities are well-suited for such opportunities. Additionally, firms with strong stakeholder management skills to coordinate with local authorities and the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) will be invaluable. As evidenced by the previous tendering round where large-scale organisations such as FP McCann were contenders, this project could be a lucrative prospect for well-established companies seeking to expand their footprint in regional development projects.

## Notice

The project is for the provision of a contractor to undertake Strabane Public Realm Scheme. The scheme will include a number of streets within the town centre boundary as noted below. The project seeks to improve the quality and usability of a number of important streets, structures and spaces to make the areas more attractive to town centre users and provide a unique sense of place. Strabane public realm is a large project across a busy town centre and multiple spaces with restricted streets and footpath widths. Streets to be either partially or fully upgraded as part of this project include; * Railway Street * Derry Road * Castle Street * Market Street * Main Street * Butcher Street * Church Street * Bridge Street The project requires high quality interventions that will improve the sense of arrival for visitors, improve connectivity between the main streets and car parks and create attractive civic space within the heart of the town. Excellent stakeholder management will be required with businesses, local communities, and Statutory Bodies including DfI to ensure traffic management plans are agreed for the works and that the completed scheme is accepted. Your submission must be submitted via etendersNI, via this CFT. No other method of submissions will be accepted. Please refer to the CfT documents for further detail.
