## Summary

The University of Keele has completed the award stage for a contract involving the chemical disinfection and inspection of water systems on its campus, located in Staffordshire, UK. This procurement process, executed under the restricted procedure, involved a call for services classified under the CPV code 71631000 for technical inspection services. With a total estimated contract value of £1 million (excluding VAT) over the potential total duration of up to five years, the contract originally began on 1st August 2025, with completion anticipated by 31st July 2030 if all extension options are exercised. A site visit was scheduled on 14th May 2025 to aid tenderers in understanding the work's scale, which was crucial for preparing their submissions. Total Environmental Compliance Limited, a supplier from Widnes, UK, was awarded the contract beginning 1st August 2025 with a signed contract value of £526,996.80.

This tender is a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in environmental compliance and technical inspection services. The contract’s substantial scope, covering comprehensive technical methodologies and expertise in water systems, positions it attractively for service providers capable of delivering high-quality results in technical inspections. Businesses with a strong background in risk management, legislation, and testing of water quality would find this contract particularly appealing, as these factors were weighted significantly in the award criteria. The contract also allows for business growth due to its potential extension to a five-year term, offering stable work and the chance to build a long-term relationship with a reputable educational institution like Keele University. Such contracts serve as an impactful platform for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking to expand their portfolio in public sector procurement.
