## Summary

The London Borough of Hackney has established a framework for the provision of Special Educational Needs Supported Internship placements for young people, under the title "SEND Post 16 Supported Internships Framework". This procurement, classified under special education services, is set in the Hackney region, with the contract anticipated to start on 1st October 2025. The framework has been awarded and is now complete, following a limited procurement method. It was conducted as an award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, leveraging the Crown Commercial Services Framework RM6232 Facilities Management and Workplace Services, Lot 3A. The contract, valued at approximately £3,330,000 if extended, supports the Government’s 'Preparing for Adulthood' agenda and will initially run for two years, with an optional two-year extension in annual increments.

This framework presents valuable opportunities for businesses in the special education sector, particularly those experienced in providing vocational training and internship programmes for young adults. With a statutory requirement to prepare young individuals for the workforce from Year 9 onwards, this framework requires providers who can deliver a combination of educational learning and practical work experience, making it ideal for SMEs focused on educational services and social value initiatives. Businesses that can contribute to the quality, sustainability, and price criteria are well-suited to compete, having an additional opportunity to establish long-term relationships within the public sector, given the potential for contract extension.
