## Summary

Diamond Light Source Ltd, a prestigious scientific research organisation located at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, has recently completed the award stage of a procurement process entitled "Supply of Residual Gas Analysers for Diamond-II". This procurement falls within the analyzers industry category and involved the provision of residual gas analyzers (RGAs) and control units essential for the Diamond-II project, aimed at upgrading the existing facility to enhance its research capabilities. The process used an open procurement method, with the contract valued at £334,800 being awarded to MKS UK Limited. The key dates for this process included a tender period that concluded on the 24th of March, 2025, and the contract was signed on the 28th of April, 2025.

This procurement presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in scientific instrumentation, particularly those with a background in supplying analyzers and related electronic control systems. The contract entailed supplying standard catalogue items, with options for alternatives, indicating potential continued demand for innovative and adaptable solutions. The contract's emphasis on technical quality and experience suggests that businesses with a strong record in the precision instrumentation market could leverage such opportunities for growth, particularly smaller enterprises looking to strengthen their foothold in supplying advanced scientific equipment in fields like life and physical sciences. This tender also showcases the potential for businesses to collaborate with leading research facilities, further promoting technological advancements and contributing to ground-breaking scientific discoveries.

## Notice

Located on the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, Diamond Light Source (DLS) is a leading-edge facility for science, engineering and innovation. Diamond allows researchers from academia and industry to investigate the structure and behaviour of the world around us at the atomic and molecular level. To continue delivering the world changing science that Diamond enables, the facility is being upgraded to Diamond-II, a coordinated programme of development that combines a major machine upgrade with new instruments and complementary improvements to optics, detectors, sample environment and delivery capabilities, and computing, as well as integrated and correlative methods. This will be transformative in speed and spatial resolution and will offer users streamlined access to enhanced instruments for life and physical sciences. The scope of this tender is to cover the supply of the Residual Gas Analysers (RGAs) and their control units for the Diamond-II Project as covered in the specification. RGAs and control units must be current standard catalogue items which the supplier has a history of supplying. Tender responses must be compliant with the specification. However, suppliers may also offer available alternatives to those outlined in the specification as options. Diamond-II, in its initial phase, will require the following RGA heads and control units: ITEM QUANTITY Quadrupole heads 30 - 50 Control electronics 30 - 50 3 metre extender cables 30 - 50 for electronics. A software package DLS-wide user license (EPICS integration, or ASCII based protocol would be desirable).
