## Summary

The John Innes Centre (JIC) in Norwich has completed a procurement process for the design and build of a new High Performance Computing Data Centre and Energy Centre as part of the Next Generation Infrastructure Programme. This initiative aims to enhance the facilities across the Norwich Research Park, specifically for the John Innes Centre and The Sainsbury Laboratory. The construction project, classified under CPV code 45000000 for construction work, is located in the UKH region. The procurement, which followed a two-stage approach, was conducted through limited tendering under the CCS Framework RM6088, with the final contract signed on 22nd August 2024. The contract worth £1,138,906.36 was awarded to R G Carter Limited.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the construction and related sectors to contribute to a highly prestigious project. Companies specialising in pre-construction services, high-performance computing infrastructure, and energy solutions would find this project particularly well-suited. Additionally, businesses with experience in executing framework contracts and working with public bodies on complex construction projects will have the chance to leverage their expertise and establish their capabilities in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects, thereby fostering growth and visibility in the high-tech construction industry.

### Procurement Information

This Contract has been awarded using the Direct Award Procedure laid out in the Schedule 4 of the Framework Alliance Contract for the Crown Commercial Services Framework CCS RM6088 (the "Framework"). The Framework has been issued pursuant to Regulation 33 of the Public Contract Regulations 2015. JIC previously conducted a Mini Competition Procedure for the Contract under Lot 3.2 of the Framework in which it received three tender responses. Following the evaluation process, it was clear that it was not possible to award the Contract within its budgetary envelope and a decision was taken by JIC to abandon the procurement procedure.
