## Summary

North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board has completed the tender process for the procurement of Intermediate Care Beds under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) regulations of 2023. This contract, which falls under the health services category (CPV: 85100000), aims to provide short stay community intermediate care beds in single rooms for patients meeting specific criteria. The service is intended to help either avoid admission to secondary care hospitals or facilitate discharge from acute hospital beds. Located in Sunderland, the contracting authority has officially awarded the contract through Direct Award Process C, with the procurement stage being the award phase. The contract will begin on 1st April 2025 and end on 30th September 2026, with a total value of £821,851.

This tender creates significant opportunities for businesses involved in healthcare services, particularly those specialising in intermediate care and residential care facilities. Companies that can offer responsive integrated assessment care within community-based settings will find this contract a substantial fiduciary benefit with guaranteed revenue over the contract period. The project is especially advantageous for businesses looking to expand their services geographically within the North East and North Cumbria regions. With an emphasis on quality care provisions and established criteria outlined in procurement documents, businesses that meet these standards and possess relevant experience would be well-suited to compete in future related tenders.

## Notice

For patients who meet the access criteria, rather than admit to a secondary care hospital (step up) or to facilitate a discharge from an acute hospital bed (step down), the Responsive Integrated Assessment Care Team (RIACT) will offer a short stay community intermediate care bed (in a single room) within the providers premises.
