## Summary

The Common Services Agency (more commonly known as NHS National Services Scotland) has successfully awarded a contract to NEC Software Solutions UK Limited for the NP503224 Diabetic Eye Screening (DES) Support System. This procurement falls under the services category, specifically for IT services including consulting, software development, Internet, and support. The contract, encompassing the provision of hosting and ongoing support for software crucial to the administration of the Diabetic Eye Screening Programme in Scotland, was concluded on 12th March 2025, following a negotiated procurement method. The contract value stands at £3,214,022 and spans a period of five years with potential extensions totalling an additional two years.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in IT services, particularly those specialising in healthcare support systems. Companies with expertise in software development, hosting, and ongoing maintenance can benefit by contributing to a critical national health initiative. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) can find niches in offering specialised support and innovative solutions that may enhance the current system. Given the substantial prior investment and the strategic importance of continuity in service delivery, businesses capable of integrating and advancing existing IT infrastructures are well-positioned to compete and grow through similar future tenders.
