## Summary

NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board have recently awarded a contract for the provision of 20 hours of care and support to the step-up/step-down intermediate care beds at Orchid House Extra Care facility in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. This contract, classified under "Community health services", aims to provide rehabilitation for adults over 18 for up to six weeks, and serves as a preference for end-of-life care. The procurement stage is in the "Award" phase with the contract being formally awarded on 28 February 2025. The contract term begins on 1 April 2025 and lasts until 31 March 2026, with an option to extend for one additional year. The total value of the contract is approximately £57,200.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses within the community health services sector, especially those specialising in intermediate and palliative care. Companies that provide comprehensive rehabilitation support, along with end-of-life care services, stand to benefit greatly. The procurement method used was a direct award process under the Provider Selection Regime Regulations 2023, bypassing the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. This tailored approach signifies a strategic business opportunity for well-established care service providers capable of maintaining high standards of care, innovation, and service sustainability. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) like Thirteen Housing Group Limited have already been successfully positioned for this contract, underlining the potential for similarly capable organisations to compete and grow their market presence.
