## Summary

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicestershire has awarded a contract for the "Digital Forensics Software Renewal" to Magnet Forensics LLC. This procurement, falling under the industry category of software packages and information systems, was conducted via a direct award method. The process is completed and involves the renewal of software utilised by the Digital Forensic Unit and other departments for digital investigations. The contract, active from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026, encompasses licenses for various Magnet software tools necessary for maintaining the operational standards of the force. The project is domiciled in multiple regions across the United Kingdom, ensuring wide coverage and support for the police's digital forensic needs.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for growth, particularly for large software enterprises specialising in digital forensic solutions. Businesses offering comparable high-calibre software solutions could benefit from understanding the requirements and procurement methods of large public organisations like Leicestershire Police, thus potentially positioning themselves for future tenders. The direct award highlights the significance of pre-established relationships and proven product reliability as key factors for successful contract acquisition in this domain.

### Procurement Information

Leicestershire Police utilise various Magnet products across its Digital Forensics Unit and wider force estate. These tools are embedded within our Standard Operating Procedures and Working Instructions. Any change of these tools would require re-accreditation, training and administration, all of which would come at significant cost, both financially and in terms of officer / staff time for training. Therefore, based on our current operating methods it is not possible to seek alternative venders of similar digital forensic products. Although third-party sellers are available, it is best value for money in terms of costs to go direct to the supplier.
