## Summary

The NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board, along with NHS Somerset and NHS Devon Integrated Care Boards, is conducting a preliminary market engagement for the procurement of Healthcare Waste Services in General Practice and Community Pharmacy. This procurement initiative, managed by the NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit, aims to reevaluate the collection and disposal of clinical and pharmaceutical waste across the South West region. The process is currently in the planning stage with a milestone set for feedback on the market engagement questionnaire by the 15th of August 2025. It is expected that the formal tendering process will commence in November 2025. The procurement is classified under services, particularly focusing on clinical waste management, and is anticipated to have a contract value up to £6,000,000, spanning from 2026 to 2031, with potential renewals extending to 2035.

This tender offers significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in clinical waste management, disposal, and recycling, especially those able to deliver sustainable, safe, and cost-efficient services. Companies offering innovative waste treatment solutions and possessing capabilities in providing both reusable and single-use containers, along with decontamination services, would be well-suited to compete for this contract. Small to medium enterprises capable of ensuring compliance, effective waste tracking, and data management are particularly encouraged to engage with this procurement process, providing them a chance to secure long-term partnerships with NHS organizations in the South West.
