## Summary

The Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT), based in London, is actively engaging in a tender process to develop an AI-powered virtual companion, the GOV.UK Agentic AI Companion. This project, which falls under the Information Technology Services category, is specifically focused on providing tailored guidance for major life events, specifically targeting users re-entering the workforce. The tender is at the 'active' stage, with key deadlines for enquiries set for 4th September 2025, and the submission period ending on 12th September 2025. The process adopts an open competition method, highlighting opportunities for collaboration and innovation in the artificial intelligence sector for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs).

This tender offers significant potential for business growth for companies specialising in AI, particularly those focused on developing intelligent and adaptive technologies. The initiative presents a unique opportunity for businesses to contribute to a forward-thinking project that integrates AI into government services, directly impacting public interaction with the GOV.UK platform. Organisations with expertise in AI consultancy, digital services, deployment, integration, and licensing might find the subsequent phases particularly beneficial, as DSIT plans to foster strong partnerships with frontier AI companies throughout the project's Pilot and Scale phases. The initiative also encourages contributions from those developing bespoke Large Language Models (LLMs), providing a platform for innovation and collaboration at a national level.

## Notice

The UK government prioritises leveraging emerging technologies like AI to drive innovation in public services, as outlined in the AI Opportunities Action Plan's "Scan, Pilot, Scale" framework. GDS are looking to appoint suitable organisations to support the development and piloting of an agentic-AI-powered virtual companion, GOV.UK Companion, integrated with the GOV.UK App to provide tailored guidance to users for major life events, with an initial focus on the "(re)entering the workforce" life event.
