## Summary

The Pirbright Institute, a public authority in sub-central government, launched an open tender for the provision of facilities management of soft services to offices, laboratories, and associated buildings. This procurement process, classified within the services category, entails waste prevention and management, including advising on waste container types and overseeing the safe disposal of waste. The tender covers locations primarily in the UK South East region, with the contract period starting from 1st July 2025 and extending potentially until June 2029. The procurement uses an open procedure framework agreement method, without reopening competition, allowing for a single supplier. The procurement process was initiated in March 2025, with planning and tender stages completed, and a full contract award announced on 24th June 2025.

This contract represents an opportunity for growth, particularly for companies specialising in waste management and environmental services. With key requirements including the regular maintenance of vehicles and technical suitability for waste disposal, businesses well-versed in refuse recycling and waste incineration services can find substantial opportunities for collaboration. It is particularly suited to larger firms capable of supplying and managing waste containers, waste skips, and recycling services, with an emphasis on environmental safety and efficiency. Given the long contract duration, businesses successfully securing this tender could see consistent and stable growth in a specialised field of facilities management.

## Notice

Waste Prevention and Management. Waste container types. The Contractor shall advise the Pirbright Institute on the full range of waste container types available and make recommendations for the most appropriate size and type for the service specified by the Pirbright Institute. The Contractor shall provide containers suitable to prevent wastes from escaping or leaking. The Contractor shall ensure that their vehicles are in a good state of repair, regularly maintained, and technically suitable for the type of waste to be disposed of, in order to prevent escape of the waste during transits. Waste management options. The Contractor shall ensure that their tender price includes collection, carriage, and safe disposal of waste. On request the Contractor shall be able to provide the Pirbright Institute with details of the waste management option, route to be used for each material and the certification for any sub-contractor and sites where waste will be taken to. The Contractor should immediately inform the Pirbright Institute in writing of any intended changes in the waste management option or route being used for each material. The Pirbright Institute retains the right to refuse changes to the waste management option or route being used or final waste destination if deemed to have a negative impact to service, environment, safety, or security.
