The procurement, part of the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, involves a bespoke, single-stage tender process. The service aims to support patients referred by their existing GPs, with a proposed start date of 1st August 2025 and a contract period ending on 30th September 2029, with an option to extend by another four years. Key submission dates include a time limit for receipt of tenders on 7th May 2025 and an award commencement on 1st July 2025. The industry category for this procurement is Medical practice services (CPV: 85121000).

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses in the medical services sector, particularly those with expertise in managing specialised GP services. The structured nature of the contract, with a clear framework and an initial four-year duration extendable to eight years, offers a stable and long-term business opportunity. The financial model, which includes costs for retainer, in-hours consultation, and telephone consultation, ensures clarity on revenue expectations. Providers with a strong track record in healthcare services, ability to manage patient referrals, and requisite staffing competencies would be well-positioned to bid. Additionally, the emphasis on quality, integration, social value, and reducing health inequalities indicates that providers with innovative solutions and sustainable practices will have a competitive edge.
