## Summary

The procurement process initiated by NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, in collaboration with other NHS entities, sought to commission a Host Organisation for the North West Adult Critical Care Transfer Service. The tender, identified as NHSE1050, falls within the "Health and social work services" industry category, and covers locations in North West England, including Greater Manchester, Lancashire, South Cumbria, Cheshire, and Merseyside. Utilizing an open procurement method, this tender was at the award stage, with submission deadlines having closed on 9 May 2025. Key dates included the award announcement by July 2025, with anticipated service mobilisation by April 2026. Although the procurement process ultimately resulted in an unsuccessful award, the initial contract term was planned for five years, carrying financial expectations of an annual budget of £5.66 million.

This tender represented an attractive opportunity for NHS Acute Trusts that are CQC registered for General Adult Critical Care Services, aiming to expand their operational footprint within the health care provision sector in the North West. Interested businesses would have been expected to innovate and integrate services that improve access and reduce health inequalities while adhering to a comprehensive set of quality and social value criteria. Although the procurement concluded without a successful award, the requirements highlighted a substantial market opportunity for qualified providers in similar future procurements. Businesses equipped with the appropriate service delivery capabilities and a strategic presence in the North West could find potential growth paths via engagement in these competitive selections.
