## Summary

The procurement process, led by Kingston Upon Hull City Council, involved the open competition for inspecting and testing portable electrical appliances. Under the "Below threshold - open competition" procurement method, Hull City Council aimed to identify faults in portable electrical appliances over three years, with a possible two-year extension starting 16th July 2025. The process, completed on 16th July 2025, was conducted in the Hull region (UKE11), with Kingston Upon Hull City Council acting as the principal buying organisation. The estimated contract value was between £125,000 and £140,000, classified under services in sectors such as electrical services and apparatus maintenance. The awarded contract value amounted to £140,000, and Latis & Stuart Ltd, a Hull-based SME, was the successful supplier.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses in the electrical services and maintenance industry, particularly those with experience in appliance testing and fault diagnostics. SMEs like Latis & Stuart Ltd have proven well-suited due to their agility and capacity to meet sub-central government requirements for quality, health, and safety standards. This success augurs well for similarly positioned firms aiming to expand within public sector procurement. The contract's structure, allowing for a three-year engagement with optional extensions, further enables suppliers to plan for sustainable growth and enhanced service offerings.
