## Summary

The University of Kent has successfully completed the procurement process for the resurfacing and road safety improvements on Parkwood Road at their Canterbury campus. The contract, titled "Parkwood Road Resurfacing & Road Safety Improvements," was awarded to TRIAGG CONSTRUCTION LIMITED. The procurement was conducted using an open competition method under the "Below threshold" approach, primarily classified under the 'works' category, focusing specifically on roadworks. With a contract value of £292,959, the work was scheduled between 3rd July 2025 and 1st August 2025. The project's legal basis was aligned with UKPGA 2023/54, ensuring all regulatory requirements were met. This project location falls within the UKJ44 region (Canterbury, South East England).

The opportunity for the "Parkwood Road Resurfacing & Road Safety Improvements" project presented significant potential for businesses, particularly those specialising in roadworks and infrastructure services. The requirement for a comprehensive Traffic Management Plan and allowance for night works highlight the complexity and demand for contractors with robust project management capabilities. SME construction businesses with expertise in managing intricate urban infrastructural upgrades would find this project well suited to their capacities. The competitive tender process, which garnered bids exclusively from SMEs, reaffirms that smaller firms can effectively compete and succeed in public sector contracts, making such opportunities an attractive prospect for business growth in road maintenance and safety improvement sectors.

## Notice

The University is seeking a competent, experienced contractor to carry out resurfacing work of Parkwood Road, Canterbury campus and the road safety improvements shown in the drawings provided. A detailed survey and Road Safety Audit has enabled the development of the design which includes: The improvement of existing speed reduction measures, amendments to crossing points, as well as the resurfacing and relining of the carriageway. Parkwood Road is an integral part of the University, linking the main campus with accommodation, sports facilities, and nursery facilities, as well as the Grounds Maintenance Depot. Due to the busy nature of the campus, the Contractor will need to allow for works to be completed in sections. An outline programme to be agreed in advance. The successful contractor will be responsible for developing a comprehensive Traffic Management Plan to enable the work while minimising disruption. Night works will be considered. The Contractor will need to carry out all elements of the works required between Thursday 3rd July 2025 and Friday 1st August 2025.
