## Summary

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to continue its essential Family History Clinics as part of the regional genetics and Inherited Cardiac Conditions service under the title "Genetics Nurse (Cardio)." The service is categorised under cardiology services and falls within the services sector. This procurement process, initiated without prior competition, falls outside the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, aligning instead with the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. Located in Middlesbrough, UK, the service has an estimated contract value of £125,000 for a duration of five years, with the contract award and start date anticipated on 1st June 2025. The arrangement, managed by South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and supplied by South Tyneside and Sunderland Foundation Trust, is crucial for servicing the Tees Valley population, ensuring vital medical services remain accessible locally.

This tender provides substantial business growth potential for organisations involved in healthcare services, particularly those with expertise in cardiology and genetics services. Businesses capable of fulfilling the contract to the required standards, especially those familiar with the regional healthcare network in Northeast England, are well-positioned to engage with such opportunities. Given the long-standing relationship with existing service providers, similar organisations with established networks in healthcare or those looking to expand their presence within regional healthcare services will find this tender valuable. Collaborations or subcontracting could also be explored by SMEs aiming to gain entry or strengthen their footing in the healthcare services sector.

## Notice

The Genetics nurse has been working for South Tees NHS Foundation Trust (STH) for 15 years under a rolling agreement with South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust (STSFT).

The service provided by the Genetic Nurse is an essential provision of Family History Clinics as part of the regional genetics and Inherited Cardiac Conditions service. If the clinic provision cannot continue as it does, patients referred for investigation of inherited cardiac conditions will have to travel to Newcastle for this service.

Work is ongoing with the Cardiac Network to renew the regional provision and improve resilience and cross-cover between hospital sites. This will allow us to continue to provide care close to home for all in the Northeast. However, for immediate term, there is a requirement for continuation of 2 clinics delivered per week, as per existing arrangement, to meet the demands of the service and to service the Tees Valley population.
