## Summary

Reading Borough Council is conducting a procurement process for the "Closing the Gap 2: Men's Mental Health Service," which focuses on early intervention and social interaction for suicide prevention, particularly in areas of deprivation. The procurement falls under the social and community services industry category and is aligned with the council's Health and Wellbeing Strategy. The process, described as a below-threshold open competition, is currently in the award stage with the contract set to begin on 1st November 2025 and potentially extendable until 31st October 2030. The final submission date for expressions of interest was 27th May 2025, with the tender award notice published on 7th August 2025. The service was procured using an open method, deemed complete, and is worth £156,000, excluding VAT.

This tender presents growth opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprises (VCSEs), particularly those excelling in social services and community welfare. Businesses with a strong focus on mental health, community involvement, and experience in delivering preventative social care interventions will find this opportunity particularly suitable. By participating, companies can strengthen their portfolio in public sector projects while contributing to vital public health objectives and reducing health disparities within the community.
