## Summary

The NHS North West London Integrated Care Board has completed a procurement process for Specialist Palliative and End of Life Care Services, in accordance with the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The contract is awarded to Shooting Star Children's Hospice, a small to medium-sized enterprise, to provide services in Hampton, Middlesex from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026, with a total value of £719,000. This award decision comes under the 'award' stage of the procurement process, specifically using a limited procurement method without prior publication of a call for competition due to the essential nature of the services and absence of alternative capable providers. The industry category is health services, classified under CPV 85100000, and the service delivery will be across West London.

This procurement presents opportunities for businesses focused on health services delivery, particularly those offering specialised care in palliative and end-of-life support for children and young people. It emphasises the importance of service provisions that require specific capabilities, highlighting opportunities mainly for entities with proven expertise and capacity in handling life-limiting conditions and comprehensive care, such as nursing, practical, emotional, and medical support. Although the current process involved a direct award due to the unique service requirements, similar businesses might find future opportunities in delivering essential healthcare services under NHS contracts, especially in areas with limited provider options where specific expertise is in demand.
