## Summary

Faringdon Town Council is inviting tenders for the design and build of a children's play area at Oakwood Park, located in Faringdon, United Kingdom. The project falls under the construction of leisure facilities within the industry category, with a focus on playground equipment such as swings and climbing apparatus. Set within a small community setting, the redesign aims to overcome existing maintenance challenges while ensuring accessibility for younger families. With a procurement process currently in the tender stage, the contract has a value of up to £120,000. Interested parties should submit their proposals by 16th June 2025, and all enquiries should be made by 9th June 2025. The work is expected to commence on 1st July 2025, concluding by 1st July 2026.

This project presents significant opportunities for companies specialising in playground design and construction. Particularly suitable for small and medium enterprises, the tender requires expertise in overcoming environmental challenges such as root system damage and bird-related maintenance issues, while creating a visually appealing and functional space for community use. Companies that excel in innovative design and technical execution will find this tender particularly appealing, given the emphasis on quality design and technical expertise as part of the award criteria. Engaging in this project offers a platform for establishing a relationship with local government entities and increasing visibility in the community recreation sector.

## Notice

This project is for the design and build of a play area which will replace the existing facility at Oakwood Park, also known as Ash Close Play Area. The site is a relatively small area serving the immediate community, surrounded on three sides by housing. There are currently several challenges for the Council in terms of general maintenance and the presence of large trees across the site. These include bird droppings on seating and equipment, root system damage to existing and any new surfacing and weeds and moss growing onto the bonded mulch. As outlined in Appendix 3, careful consideration to the new design, surfacing and equipment is required to mitigate these, while delivering an accessible and inviting play area that will be primarily used by younger families. All existing equipment, surfacing, play steel rail fencing (front of site) and any bases are to be removed and disposed of. The project is fully funded; however, the Council may wish to reduce the final budget depending on the submitted designs and other community priorities.
