## Summary

Maidstone Borough Council, located in Maidstone, United Kingdom, is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "Refurbishment of Maidstone House & The Link Buildings." This project falls under the industry category of works, specifically overhaul and refurbishment work, and pertains to the Council's main office buildings. The supplier engagement process is underway, with key dates including the submission of responses to engagement documents due by 9th May 2025. Engagement sessions are scheduled for the week commencing 12th May 2025. The procurement method involves a Two Stage Design & Build contract, with a projected contract period starting from 1st January 2026 through to 31st December 2026.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in refurbishment and overhaul work, particularly those with experience in sustainable building upgrades. The focus on achieving Maidstone Borough Council's Net Zero ambitions highlights the potential for businesses with expertise in eco-friendly and energy-efficient solutions to demonstrate their capabilities. Additionally, the suitability for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to compete in this process expands opportunities for a diverse range of businesses to participate in the tender. Engaging in this procurement process could lead to strategic partnerships and long-term growth, especially for contractors interested in public sector projects and sustainable development.

## Notice

Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is inviting interested parties to take part in a supplier engagement process regarding an upcoming project to facilitate the refurbishment of its main Council offices. The two buildings are currently powered via a shared fossil fuel mechanical & electrical plant (MEP) system. Many elements of the system have reached the end of their serviceable life and upgrades are required to assure the building's ability to provide comfortable working conditions for its occupants. Both Council staff and commercial tenants of Maidstone Borough Council are a top priority which is the focus of the need to refurbish the buildings. This is closely coupled by MBC's Net Zero ambitions for 2030 and beyond. This Supplier Engagement activity will prepare MBC for potentially going out to tender for a prospective contractor, for a Two Stage Design & Build contract, circa August-September 2025, with an aim to mobilise on site in January 2026.

### Planning Information

The responses to questions posed in the engagement documents should be submitted in writing by Friday 9th May, after which we will be holding informal engagement sessions (via Microsoft Teams) to discuss other aspects of the scheme. These sessions can be booked on a first come, first served basis and will be held w/c 12th May.
Engagement documents are available from, and all subsequent correspondence must be made via, the Kent Business Portal:
