## Summary

The South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has awarded a contract for mental health services, focusing specifically on psychiatrist or psychologist support. The procurement process involved a direct award under the Provider Selection Regime Regulations 2023, exempting it from the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The contract will commence on 1st July 2025, and run for an initial term of three years, with two possible extension years. The award has been made to Alliance Psychological Services Limited, based in Stockton-on-Tees, UK, in the UKC1 region. This procurement falls within the health care industry category and advances the Trust's goal to improve mental health service provision across South and North Tees.

This procurement presents opportunities for businesses engaged in providing mental health services, particularly those capable of integrating smoothly with existing health care structures. SMEs like Alliance Psychological Services Limited exemplify suitability for such contracts, given their ability to build trusted relationships and deliver high-quality care without disrupting ongoing patient treatment. Businesses looking to expand in the health care sector while supporting NHS goals for integrated and accessible mental health services would find significant growth potential in tenders like this one. The approach favours suppliers with an established presence, ready to assume long-term service commitments.

## Notice

The supplier is currently supporting both South Tees (STH) and North Tees (NTH), the subject of mental health and associated pathways are extremely contentious. The BACP guidelines indicate to transfer care of patients to a new provider once treatment has commenced is likely to cause harm to the patients. The provider has a trusted relationship with both trust providing high quality mental health care, the supplier is able to deliver the services required within the estate already allocated to the OH service enabling our workforce to receive the care they need locally causing the least disruption to both patient care and trust services. Providing a single service to the group model is an underpinning aspect of the people plan and more. Given the sickness absence rate related to mental health is continually in the top 3 sickness reasons, it is essential we maintain a high-quality accessible service, while also using the opportunity to enhance our service offer to the workforce. The overarching goal is to implement a single service across both trusts whilst with the incumbent provider of the services.

This award will be for a 3 year term, with two optional additional years. The estimated start date for the contract will be 1st July 2025.
