## Summary

The University of Salford has recently concluded the procurement process for a medical sector 3D scanning and 3D printing solution aimed at producing custom-made orthotic devices. This contract, titled "Medical sector 3D scanning and 3D printing solution for custom-made orthotic devices," falls under the goods category and relates to the peripheral equipment and scanners industry. The procurement involved an open competitive process below the threshold, with the contract now awarded as of 21st May 2025. The supplier, Qwadra, a large-scale enterprise from the United Kingdom, will commence the contract on 1st July 2025, concluding on 1st November 2025. The University, located at 43 The Crescent, Salford, aims to use the procured equipment to enhance educational outcomes and support intricate orthotic requirements.

This tender creates substantial opportunities for businesses involved in advanced manufacturing and education-focused technology, particularly those capable of providing bespoke 3D printing solutions tailored to healthcare needs. Companies with expertise in producing high precision 3D printers and non-contact scanner technologies will be particularly well-suited for such contracts. The project's requirement for hardware/software integration with future orthotics and long-term support also highlights opportunities for businesses that provide comprehensive after-sales care and system adaptability, positioning them for growth in the public healthcare sector. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) could find such tenders accessible, provided they demonstrate competitive pricing and high-quality service offerings.
