## Summary

The Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is inviting tenders for the "Projects for Nature" initiative, which seeks to link corporate donations with government-screened nature recovery projects. This initiative falls under the services category and relates to market research services with a location focus in the United Kingdom. The procurement process is currently in the tender stage, with key dates including the enquiry period ending on 23rd May 2025 and the tender submission deadline on 6th June 2025. DEFRA is employing an open procurement method, indicative of a below-threshold open competition, allowing electronic submissions via their dedicated portal.

This tender represents significant potential for business growth, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) focused on environmental services. The opportunity aligns well for businesses interested in fostering corporate and environmental synergies, as the project emphasises the creation of partnerships between corporates and nature recovery initiatives. Given the initiative’s emphasis on technical capabilities (65% of the evaluation), as well as social values and sustainability (10%), participating businesses can enhance their profile and market presence by demonstrating robust environmental strategies. Additionally, commercial considerations form 25% of the evaluation, encouraging competitive proposals. The contract period is set to commence from 7th July 2025 and may extend up to 12 months beyond its end in 2029, offering prolonged engagement opportunities.

## Notice

Projects for Nature (P4N) is an initiative that aims to connect corporate donations to nature recovery projects screened by government, ensuring alignment with these national environmental priorities. The initiative has been in pilot from December 2024 - May 2025, raising money from multiple corporate donors and engaging over 50 businesses. More than this, P4N has enabled these corporates to demonstrate action within their nature reporting (e.g. TNFD and SBTN) and established strong relationships between businesses and nature projects that have catalysed further investment, e.g. through nature markets.
