## Summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is inviting tenders for the "Supply and Maintenance of Blood Component Transport Containers." The procurement process currently at the tender stage, was published on 5th November 2025. This active procurement involves the supply, repair, and maintenance of both new and existing transport containers, crucial for ensuring the safe transit of blood components across the UK and Ireland. The process includes two lots, with services beginning in April 2026 and ending in April 2030. The open procedure method is being used, with deadlines concluding on 16th December 2025 for tender submissions. The tender spans multiple locations, including the UK and Ireland, and involves several national blood services as participating authorities.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specializing in the manufacture and maintenance of specialised mobile containers, particularly those that meet strict standards for durability and temperature control. Companies with expertise in designing strong, robust containers that maintain specific temperature ranges for blood components will find this opportunity particularly well-suited. Firms with innovative solutions that incorporate temperature stabilisation techniques like phase change materials will have a competitive edge. SMEs with offerings that support the specifications required, such as lightweight materials and compliance with health and safety regulations, are highly encouraged to participate, given the framework agreement's openness to competition and future scalability across different health authorities.
