## Summary

Durham County Council has successfully completed the procurement process for the "002352 - Sunderland Datacentre Rental and Power" contract, with Sunderland City Council as the supplier. This project is part of Durham County Council's ICT Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and involves the renewal of rental of rack space and power supply in Sunderland City Council's Moorside Datacentre. The procurement was conducted via a direct award method due to existing service dependencies and continuity requirements in their ICT infrastructure. The contract began on 8th October 2025 and will run until 1st June 2028, with a gross value of £324,000. The services fall under the industry category of hardware disaster-recovery and computer-site planning consultancy services, delivered within the UKC region.

This tender provides opportunities for businesses offering specialised ICT support and consultancy services, particularly those experienced in business continuity and disaster recovery solutions. Companies that have the infrastructure to supply and manage data centre services effectively could see growth potential by aligning with Durham County Council's strategic continuity objectives. This contract offers a stable, long-term relationship with a public entity, facilitating expansion into public sector contracts for businesses specialising in technical consultancy and infrastructure support. Large-scale enterprises with existing capacity in these areas are particularly well-suited to manage and deliver on these services.

## Notice

As part of the Durham County Council ICT Business Continuity Planning, we require renewal of rental of rack space and supply of power to the racks in Sunderland City Council's Moorside datacentre. This is a continuation of existing services we utilise from them, with this being embedded in our current BCP.

### Procurement Information

Due to embedded Business Continuity Planning within the organisation around ICT backup, it is not practical or feasible to change suppliers at this stage. Additional or repeat goods or services is the most suitable option for this direct award request, however, extreme and unavoidable urgency could also apply to this, as not continuing with the incumbent supplier and beginning a new procurement exercise at this stage in the existing contract would mean that there would be no data backup support and the organisation's ICT BCP would be void.
