## Summary

The procurement process initiated by the Home Office has recently concluded with the tender cancellation for 'Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children Support Services.' This process involved a comprehensive engagement. The final decision to terminate followed a review carried out on 30 January 2026, prompted by changes in requirements. Initially, the tender process involved active stages with an invitation to express interest and subsequent planning stages dated from May 2025. This procurement focused on service delivery in welfare services for asylum-seeking children, specifically in Kent, UK, under an open procedure aiming to secure suppliers capable of providing high-quality, trauma-informed support.

This tender represented potential growth opportunities for businesses specialising in welfare and social work services. The procurement method was open, indicating inclusivity for bids from diverse entities. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) were particularly suited to participate given the service-oriented nature of the procurement, which aligns with their operations. Despite the termination of the tender, businesses in the social services domain may find fruitful opportunities in future engagements as the Home Office reassesses service needs and plans for upcoming tenders. Businesses able to adapt to evolving contract requisites and implement responsive service delivery models will likely remain competitive in this sector.
