## Summary

The Defence Equipment and Support organisation, based at MOD Abbey Wood in Bristol, United Kingdom, is progressing the procurement of a Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) under the Land Mobility Programme. This initiative invites original equipment manufacturers and prime contractors to engage in early market engagements for supplying light vehicles to replace existing models such as the Land Rover and Pinzgauer. The current stage is in planning, with a deadline for registering interest by 18th May 2026 and one-to-one sessions scheduled for 2nd to 5th June 2026 at the MOD Abbey Wood location. The estimated contract value is approximately £750 million, with procurement under a special defence and security regime. The procurement aims to enhance the UK's military vehicle capabilities with updated, multi-role wheeled utility platforms. The procurement process is above threshold and follows the legal guidelines set out by the UK Procurement Act 2023.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses in the defence and automotive industries, particularly those with experience in designing and manufacturing specialist motor vehicles. Smaller and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to apply, providing they meet the criteria to deliver comprehensive solutions for LMV capabilities. The engagement process allows businesses to showcase their innovative solutions and form strategic partnerships. Companies that specialise in defence equipment, transportation equipment, and 4-wheel-drive vehicles will find the tender especially relevant, as the procurement seeks to modernise the warfighting capabilities across the Joint Force using a Common Based Platform.

## Notice

This is a calling notice for the Land Mobility Programme Team (LMP) Early Market Engagement (EME) for the Light Mobility Vehicle Project (LMV). The purpose of this engagement is to engage with industry about the current requirement, explore key challenges and opportunities, and gain a clearer understanding of current market capabilities and offerings which may be relevant to how we deliver this requirement in the future. LMV is expected to deliver multiple options including delivery of a wheeled utility platform to modernise capability in roles currently filled by Land Rover and Pinzgauer with a Common Based Platform delivering warfighting roles across the Joint Force.

### Planning Information

UPDATE 08/05/2026
As part of the next phase of Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) Early Market Engagement (EME), the Authority will be conducting a round of targeted engagement aimed at original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and prime contractors who intend to act as a main contracting entity with MOD for the LMV requirement. This engagement will consist of a Request for Information (RFI), followed by one-to-one sessions.
Due to the Authority’s capacity to review industry responses, the Authority reserves the right to refuse a request to partake in both parts of this engagement. The priority will be given to OEMs and prime contractors who intend to be the main entity bidding for this opportunity and can reasonably deliver the breadth of the LMV capability requirement.
If your organisation is interested in taking part in this engagement and meet the criteria outlined above, please email DES-LandMobilityProgramme-LightM@mod.gov.uk to express interest and receive further information. Once you have expressed an interest via this email, the following key dates apply:
• Deadline for registering interest to partake in this engagement by 17:00 GMT Monday 18th May 2026 (a link to a booking form will be provided once you have expressed your interest).
• Deadline for RFI responses by 17:00 GMT Monday 25th May 2026.
• 1:1 Sessions to take place Tuesday 2nd – Friday 5th June 2026, in person at MOD Abbey Wood, Bristol, BS34 8JH (you will have the opportunity to indicate your availability for two-hour sessions within the booking form).
Where companies are considering bidding as part of consortium or group, only one response is allowed per bidding entity.
Please note that due to national security considerations in relation to this programme and/or capacity constraints at the venue, we reserve the right to limit participation in all parts of this engagement to individuals who are nationals of, or companies registered to the following countries:
- Afghanistan
- Belarus
- China (including Tibet, Hong Kong, and Macau)
- Iran
- North Korea
- Russia
- Syria
- Ukraine
All costs incurred in this round of engagement are the sole responsibility of the respondent. Non-participation in this engagement does not preclude any company from bidding on any future opportunity.
The copy of RFI question set and supporting documents will be shared for transparency via the Defence Sourcing Portal (DSP) (https://contracts.mod.uk/) the week commencing 25th May 2026 under the reference 713718450 or at https://contracts.mod.uk/esop/guest/go/opportunity/detail?opportunityId=60560 within the Opportunity Attachments section.
The information contained within the RFI remains the property of MOD and may be used only for the purpose of informing a response to this RFI and future LMV activities. You and your organisation must not share this information outside your organisation without written consent of the Authority, nor make any public statement in relation to this information without such approval.
The RFI reflects the Authority’s current position and is provided for information purposes only. It does not constitute a commitment by the MOD and all details remain subject to change at the MOD’s discretion.
