## Summary

Buckinghamshire Council, a public authority operating at the sub-central government level, initiated a procurement process for the delivery of Shared Lives Services in Buckinghamshire. Located in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire Council aimed to expand support services over the next 5 to 7 years, targeting health and social work services under the CPV codes 85000000 and 85300000. The tender, initially planned and then opened through an open procedure, was ultimately cancelled as of 3rd October 2025 as per the tender cancellation notice. The procurement process included phases such as planning beginning on 22nd May 2025, tender submission deadline on 7th July 2025, and the potential contract starting on 5th January 2026. The procurement was valued at £10,538,000, with a focus on developing live-in, short break, and day support arrangements for various supported care programs.

This tender presented significant opportunities for businesses specializing in innovative health and social work services that could adeptly deliver and scale such support systems. Ideal candidates included providers with experience in managing Shared Lives, supported lodgings, or fostering services, and those capable of partnering with local authorities to expand service offerings. Companies with a robust marketing strategy for recruiting and training self-employed carers, experience in securing regulatory compliance, and the ability to facilitate comprehensive support to individuals with diverse needs would find this contract beneficial for business growth. The contract also allowed for growth in capability and presence within the UK's care service industry, offering a lucrative long-term opportunity, despite its eventual cancellation.
